Governor’s Declaration
Executive Order #65 providing for the establishment of the Iowa Geographic Information Council signed by Governor Terry E. Branstad in 1998 served as the focal point for the formation of the organization that is now known as IGIC. The guiding principles outlined in this document have served to be the rallying points for efforts focused on geospatial coordination since that time.
IGIC has endured several challenges since the original issuance of Executive Order 65 but its membership has proven to be a focused and resilient group that has made great strides towards the vision that was outlined in this document.
